Personalised Learning
St Mary’s believes in delivering a curriculum that is accessible to all and that stretches all children and enables them all to achieve at a high level, based on their individual learning needs. We use constant assessment in academic and social skills to create daily learning plans that focus on previous learning, next steps and targets. This is in all areas and not just in Maths and English.
All activities are based on individual needs and we use our adults in the classroom to ensure this progression. Our model of learning ensures that every child of every ability is guaranteed 2 guided reading, writing and maths sessions a week and that they also share their time in non core subjects. These groups vary in size and are based around pupil’s learning needs rather than their current Sats level.
We also ensure that all children have access to analysis groups, our own version of personalised intervention groups. We are now running national courses in this area. For information on applying for this course please go to: www.continuingpeoplesdevelopment.com
